Air Fryer Italian Sausage

Ingredients
  • 4 links Italian Sausage (about 1.25 lb total, sweet or hot)
  • 1 medium Bell Pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 4 Hoagie Rolls, for serving (optional)
Instructions
  • Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees F for 3 minutes. Using a fork, pierce each italian sausage link two or three times on each side. This allows steam to escape and prevents the casings from bursting.
  • Place the sausage links in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 10 minutes, flipping once at the 5-minute mark.
  • While the sausage cooks, toss the sliced bell pepper and onion with olive oil, italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  • After the initial 10 minutes, push the sausages to one side and add the seasoned peppers and onions around them. Increase the temperature to 380 degrees F and cook for an additional 8 to 10 minutes, tossing the vegetables once halfway through, until the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F and the peppers and onions are tender and lightly charred.
  • Let the sausages rest for 3 minutes before serving. Serve on their own or nestled into hoagie rolls topped generously with the roasted peppers and onions.
