Green beans on their own can be a little boring, I get it. But once you toss them in the air fryer with some garlic, parmesan, and a squeeze of lemon – that changes everything.
These air fryer crispy green beans are one of my favorite side dishes to make. They’re super simple, they taste amazing, and they’re ready in minutes.

You only need a handful of basic ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. Nothing fancy or hard to find.
The air fryer gets them nice and crispy without deep frying. So you get that satisfying crunch but in a much lighter way.
This recipe works great for weeknight dinners or even meal prep. Once you try green beans this way, you won’t want to go back to steaming them.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
They Actually Get Crispy – Green beans in the air fryer get that amazing crispy texture on the outside while staying tender on the inside. It’s honestly hard to stop snacking on them once they come out of the basket.
Ready in Under 15 Minutes – From start to finish, these crispy green beans take barely any time at all. A quick toss in olive oil and seasoning, then the air fryer does all the heavy lifting for you.

The Garlic Parmesan Combo Is Unreal – Garlic powder and grated parmesan together create this savory, almost addictive flavor on the green beans. It turns a basic vegetable into something you’ll actually crave.
Way Healthier Than Deep Frying – You get that satisfying crunch using just one tablespoon of olive oil instead of submerging them in a vat of grease. All the crispy goodness with way less guilt.

Tips
Dry the Green Beans Really Well
This is probably the most important step in the whole recipe. After you wash the green beans, lay them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and pat them down until they feel completely dry to the touch.
Any water left on the surface will create steam inside the air fryer instead of letting the beans crisp up. You’ll end up with soft, soggy green beans instead of ones with that nice blistered texture.
If you have time, you can even let them sit out on the towel for a few minutes after patting them down to air dry a little more before tossing them in the oil.
Don’t Overcrowd the Basket
When you put the green beans in the air fryer basket, spread them out so they sit in a mostly single layer. A little overlap is fine, but you don’t want them piled on top of each other in a big heap.

Air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food, and if the beans are stacked up too high, the ones in the middle won’t get any direct airflow. That means some will be crispy and some will just be steamed.
If you have a full pound and your air fryer is on the smaller side, cook them in two batches. It takes a few extra minutes but the results are way better.
Coat Them Evenly
When you toss the green beans with the olive oil and seasonings, take a minute to really mix everything around in the bowl. You want every single bean to have a light coating of oil on it.
The oil is what helps the outside of the beans crisp up and gives the garlic powder and salt something to stick to. If some beans have no oil on them, they’ll dry out and taste bland while the oily ones get all the flavor.
Use your hands if you need to. It’s the easiest way to make sure every bean gets coated.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to trim the green beans before air frying?
Yes, you should snap or cut off the tough stem ends before cooking. The thin tail end is perfectly fine to leave on since it gets nice and crispy in the air fryer.
A quick way to do this is to line up a handful of beans on your cutting board and slice all the stems off at once with one cut.
